The Horse-A-Rama Inc. Board of Directors is announcing changes to their annual fundraising for 2016.

Structural issues were found in the Manitowoc County Expo building used as the main indoor equine demonstration area for the event. The building was demolished in July 2015, and Horse-A-Rama Inc. is partnering with the Expo to construct a new multipurpose barn on the site.

“This is an exciting time, although not quite when and how we expected!” said Marilyn Lentz, president of Horse-A-Rama Inc. “In addition to the missing building, our financial and volunteer resources are being diverted to the new barn project, so we’re planning a couple of smaller, more manageable fundraising events for the coming year.”

The first event will be a Tack Swap on March 19, 2016. Equestrians looking to sell or trade excess equipment will be able to buy a table to do so; a select number of outside vendors will be on site; and the ever-popular Silent Auction will be conducted at this event.

The second event will be a “No Silver-No Sequins” horse show, to be held on May 7, 2016. “Horse show participation has decreased over the past several years,” Ms. Lentz added, “and we’re hoping to encourage folks who don’t normally show to give it a try. It’s also a good way for those who do show to get an early start, whether for practice or for points.”

Since 1988, the Horse-A-Rama event has been the primary fundraiser to build and maintain the equine facilities at the Manitowoc County Expo. Over the winter months, the Horse-A-Rama board will also be working with Manitowoc County Expo staff on a capital campaign to raise the remaining funds needed for the new barn.
